The 1913-S Barber Quarter (Buy on eBay) has the lowest mintage of the entire series with only 40,000 coins produced. This represents the last of the three lower mintage San Francisco coins generally considered to be key dates of the Barber Quarter series.
Despite the extremely low mintage, this issue is not as scarce as the mintage seems to indicate. Collectors of the era were very aware of the small mintage of the coin and hoarded a considerable number of examples. This contrasts to the 1896-S and 1901-S Barber Quarters, which were not as heavily saved. Nonetheless, 1913-S Barber Quarter is an important low mintage coin, which remains difficult to acquire and scarce in any grade.
